When you reach a new commission tier, the new percentage will be applied two months later.
For example, if you secured 100 bookings in January, all bookings created in March would receive the 30% commission (paid two months after the guest checks out).
Commission is always paid based on the commission tier you were in at the time of booking. This means that sometimes, bookings stayed in the same month will be paid at different commission rates.
In this image, the affiliate partner was paid in March 2015 for reservations that checked out two months previously, in January 2015.
It shows two commission amounts: 30% and 35%. In this case, 12 bookings were made when the commission percentage was 30%. The remaining 99 bookings were made when the partner was on a 35% commission percentage.
As of January 1st, we will be changing the logic of which Commission is calculated for all partners.
The system will look at when a reservation is materialised (Confirmed as stayed by the accommodation two months after check-out) , commission will then be calculated for the reservation based on how many other reservations materialized in the same month.
The commission for each reservation that month will continue to be based on the following commission split brackets:
So if you materialize 1-50 reservations in that same month, the commission will be 25% and will increase based on the scale shown above.
As an example:
if “John”, a loyal customer of yours, has booked a 5 night stay in Amsterdam from 25th June until 30th June which he originally booked on May 1st.
John later checks out on the 30th June and pays 300 EUR to the accommodation for his stay, the Accommodation will then process the payment of which Booking.com will receive as (an example) 15% commission (=300 x 15% = 45 EUR) for the reservation.
Booking.com will then split the commission with yourself and will share a percentage of the commission based on the number of reservations that have materialized in the month of August (Remember that it takes two months after check out for a reservation to materialize).
If you have Materialized 175 Reservations in the month of August, Booking.com will apply a 35% Commission Split for John’s Booking as well as all other Materialized bookings in the month of August.
The Commission Value for John’s booking will therefore be 13.50 EUR (300 EUR x 15% x 30% = 13.50 EUR) which Booking.com will pay two months after John’s check-out date as this is when the Reservation will materialize, in August.
